Post-Covid, records show that children and aged individuals are the ones that are more prone to suffering from infections. It is also observed that the immunity levels of people have reduced and hence their bodies are very easily affected by various infections. According to a report from the World Health Organization, almost 7-10 crore people are prone to get affected by some infection, and millions of children under 5 years die due to them. So, this world sepsis day, it is of prime importance that we create Awareness Of Sepsis and also about its importance and how we can work towards reducing its negative impact on people.
Here are a few features you should know about
Sepsis:
Sepsis is a life-threatening infection that is caused by
microorganisms. Every time a person is infected, the body temperature fluctuates and
the heart beats faster than usual. The person also tends to breathe faster,
experiences extreme lethargy, severe chills, fatigue, urinating less, sees a drop in
BP, increases confusion, and many more symptoms.
Diagnosis:
Sepsis is generally diagnosed
by blood culture, carbaR, and bio fire test. This is a deadly disease that is caused
due to the spread of
toxic substances and also due to contact with the bloodstream of the infected
person. If not treated immediately, there are chances that the infection spreads
within the body of the individual, which may also cause the patient to die.
Cases of Sepsis being registered in the
Guntur district every day:
It has been observed that there are at
least around 2 to 3 patients visiting a doctor every day due to infections. Doctors
have observed an increase in cases post covid, and if it is not treated on time, the
patients suffer serious infections where they are admitted to the ICU. 50 percent of
the infections are caused in the lungs and later spreads to the kidneys, brain,
urinary tract, skin, and other parts.
Precautions to be taken:
Always maintain
a balanced diet that aids in boosting your immunity. Include good vitamins,
carbohydrates, mineral salts in equal proportions in your diet. As cleanliness takes
up a major role in preventing infections, ensure the areas you live in are cleaned
regularly, and maximum hygiene is maintained at all times.
